New Brooklyn Art Museum is Just a Giant Refrigerator to Hang Art On

brooklynartConstruction crews just broke ground on the new Brooklyn Modern Art Magnet. The controversial architectural plans call for a 10 story building shaped like a common household refrigerator. Aspiring modern artists will be allowed to fix their works of crayon based art to the base of the building and more established artists will have their works hang from above.

The architect, Johan John Johansen, got the idea by attending abstract art openings unannounced and mingling with patrons. He noticed how frequently comments like “my kid could have drawn that” or “looks like something little Jaxxon would paint in class and end up on our fridge” would come up.

The building will only have a few rooms the general public can access and will be kept between 32-40° F and all the items in the gift shop will be displayed on glass shelves and stored in crisper drawers. The grand opening is planned for sometime this summer.
