Reminder: Winter is the Perfect Time to Check Your Tire Pressure and Your White Male Privilege

lowairpressurewhiteness.pngWinter is finally here in FULL-FORCE! And that means things contract even the air in your tires and your awareness that being born a white male in America gives you a position of privilege that you need to keep in check! Here’s a winterizing checklist specifically for white males to help get ready for the cold:

  • Maintaining proper tire pressure will extend the life of your tires.
  • As a white male your odds of being hired for a job, when competing against female applicants, are probably skewed in your favor. The more prestigious the job, the larger the odds are skewed. Important to remember.
  • You can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of your race widely represented.
  • Maintaining proper tire pressure will give you better traction on the road in any driving condition!
  • If you choose not to have children, your masculinity will not be called into question.
  • You can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that you will not be followed or harassed.
  • Maintaining proper tire pressure will increase your gas mileage!
  • If you have children and a career, no one will think you are selfish for not staying at home.
  • If you’re careless with your driving it won’t be attributed to your sex.
  • If a traffic cop pulls you over you can be sure you haven’t been singled out because of your race.
  • Make sure you check your tire pressure every other time you fill up at the gas station.

  1. I love this, your writing style is so satyrical and perfect. And I agree, white male privilege should be checked regularly. That’s not to say that I shouldn’t keep my white female privilege under control, as well. Great post, I’m hitting you up with a follow!
