The Hill Fire is the other fire burning near the site of this week's mass shooting in Thousand Oaks.

Unfortunately, Scott Derrickson, best known for directing Doctor Strange, announced on Twitter early this morning that his home has been lost in the fire. The Calabasas campus is also evacuated.

Fanned by high winds and low humidity, the fires spread rapidly Thursday and overnight Friday. It was burning in the same area impacted by the 2013 Springs Fire where there was "sparse fuel", fire officials said Friday.

A lot of the resources assigned to the Hill Fire were transferred to the Woolsey Fire, which became the priority for firefighting efforts with heavy air support and hundreds of personnel working Friday.

The 20,000 acre (8,100 hectare) Camp Fire, which started on Thursday near Camp Creek, is being driven west by 35 miles per hour (56 kmh) winds, fire officials said.

- Crews were battling multiple wind-driven brush fires on Friday, leaving several structures damaged, forcing thousand of homes to evacuate and closing some area schools and roadways.

Everything destroyed as wildfire scorches Paradise, California
The fire burning east of Chico has destroyed much of the community of Paradise, a city with a population of almost 27,000 people. The fire in Paradise was reported shortly after daybreak in a rural area. "The town is devastated, everything is destroyed".

The full extent of the destruction is still unknown, but authorities believe up to 1,000 buildings have been destroyed - most of those in Paradise, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) spokesman said. Almost 2,300 firefighters are battling the flames, but as of Friday morning, it was still zero percent contained.

Strong wind is blowing two brush fires out of control in Ventura County, and one of them has closed a section of Highway 101.

About 2:30 a.m., all evacuation orders in the city of Los Angeles were changed from mandatory to voluntary, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Some 75,000 homes were ordered evacuated in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeting: "imminent threat", adding that "Malibu lakes residents must leave area immediately". The arrows indicate the direction the fires spread after the satellite overflight.

The highway is expected to remain closed Friday morning, Ventura County Fire Chief Mark Lorenzen said. Winds were blowing between 25-30 miles per hour and pushed the fire across the freeway onto Conejo Mountain toward the Pacific Coast Highway. The order includes the area south of the 101 Freeway from the Ventura County line east to Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road, and as far south as the Pacific Ocean. It's near Hill Canyon Road and Santa Rosa Road in the Santa Rosa Valley. She had been filming aerial shots in her private plane earlier for her Instagram Stories and realized her own home was threatened. The Santa Anas are strong, dry winds that high-pressure systems push from east to west, from the mountains and desert areas down into the Los Angeles area.

A third fire erupted Friday morning in Griffith Park above the Los Angeles Zoo.
