Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who authorities say shot and killed a well-liked businessman at his apartment, has been arrested by the Texas Rangers and is now accused of manslaughter. The Texas Ranger Division, a separate agency that's investigating the case, had asked that the warrant be postponed.
Guyger allegedly entered an apartment she thought was hers, and killed a man she didn't recognize, Dallas' FOX 4 reported. They held a news conference Sunday night, shortly before the arrest was announced, making another plea for the officer to be taken into custody and saying their team had presented new evidence - a witness and video footage - to prosecutors. She reported the shooting to dispatchers and she told officers who responded that she had mistaken Jean's apartment for her own.
"This family is frustrated".
Before Sunday's action against Guyger, the family's lawyer, Lee Merritt, said the lack of an arrest had added to the family's grief.
"The officer involved in this incident has been identified as Officer Amber Guyger #10702". "This is an unacceptable way for Dallas to represent itself to the world".
