Justice Department official Bruce Ohr kept Andrew Weissmann - also known a special counsel Robert Mueller's "pit bull" - informed about the anti-Trump dossier before and after the 2016 election, Fox News' Catherine Herridge reported on Thursday.
Trump this month proposed stripping Ohr, who until this year had been largely anonymous during his decades-long Justice Department career, of his security clearance and has asked "how the hell" he remains employed. "What's happened is the highest levels of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice conspired and colluded to bring down a president".
"Will Bruce Ohr, whose family received big money for helping to create the phony, dirty and discredited Dossier, ever be fired from the Jeff Sessions "Justice" Department?" McQuade says, previously, career Justice Department people found Trump's criticisms of Ohr to be bewildering.
Steele and Ohr, at the time of the election a senior official in the deputy attorney general's office, had first met a decade earlier and bonded over a shared interest in worldwide organized crime. His focus is worldwide organized crime - particularly Russian organized crime - a topic he and Christopher Steele had a mutual interest in, which led to a friendly relationship.
The July 30, 2016, meeting between Steele and Ohr came one day before the FBI officially opened its counterintelligence investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

To the manager that finished fifth? One of the secrets of last season was when we didn't get three points, we won the next game. Of course we are judged for the titles we get now, especially if you have won titles as it can work.
Ohr also told lawmakers and staff he didn't read any of his wife's work or the documents that were given to him from Steele, the source said.
Ohr's communications with Steele were blessed by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, though he did not inform his supervisor, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, about the meetings, according to the source with knowledge of Ohr's testimony. This week, Ohr was grilled about Steele behind closed doors by two GOP-led House committees that are looking at decisions made by the DOJ before the election.
"If members have concerns sensitive information was released, they should raise their concerns with (the intelligence committee) and/or the Ethics Committee", said Amanda Gonzalez.
"Absolutely", Hayden said. "And I don't know Mr. Ohr, but in anticipation of our conversation tonight, I kind of sent a note out to folks I know who might know him, and the description I got back from him was competent, thorough, and honest".
