Firefighters by Saturday night had managed to contain 41 percent of the Carr blaze, measured at 145,000 acres (58,680 hectares), and authorities were allowing some evacuees to return, Cal Fire said. They have forced the evacuation of more than 20,000 residents and destroyed more than 100 structures.

Nearly 3,500 personnel, alongside 419 fire engines and 15 helicopters, have taken part of the firefighting efforts.
