The mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared en route from Beijing to Kuala Lumpur more than four years ago, doesn't seem any closer to solving today after the Malaysian government released an investigative safety report.

Grace Nathan, a lawyer whose mother, Anne Daisy, was on the plane, told reporters: "We hope that these mistakes will not be repeated and that measures are put in place to prevent them in the future".

Investigators had pored through whatever evidence and testimony at their perusal and even re-enacted the air turnback over the South China Sea using flight simulators that clearly indicated it could only be done through manual inputs and not by autopilot. "No matter what we do, we can not exclude the possibility of a third person or third party or unlawful interference".

An Australian engineer, Peter McMahon claimed he found what appeared to be a plane wreckage on Google Earth.

A long-awaited official report into the disappearance of Flight MH370 gave no new clues Monday about why the Malaysian plane vanished, sparking anger and disappointment among relatives of those on board.

The investigation had been described as a "final report", but in his opening remarks Kok said, "This is not a final report".

He said police retrieved over 2,700 co-ordinates from various file segments found in Zaharie's home flight simulator.

The report also reaffirms the Malaysian government's assertion that the flight was deliberately re-routed and continued flying for hours after losing communications, the AP reported.

"The lack of evidence includes the exact location and disposition of the main aircraft wreckage and the evidence that it could provide, the information recorded on the Flight Data Recorder, Cockpit Voice Recorder and other recording devices on the aircraft and the absence of any aircraft voice or data transmissions that could indicate why the aircraft flew to the Southern Indian Ocean", the report said.

Egyptian zoo 'paints donkey to pass it off as a zebra'
The black paint had melted on the donkey's face and the ears didn't look like the right size for a zebra, he said. But zoo director Mohamed Sultan insisted that they were zebras, reported BBC .

"The Cabinet, in its meeting on July 11 with the investigation team, was briefed and has taken note of the findings of the Report", he said in a statement following the release of ICAO's MH370 Safety Investigation Report earlier.

"We are not of the opinion it could be an event committed by the pilot", he said. Kok said his investigators looked meticulously into the background and found nothing to raise suspicion.

One area that came in for criticism in the report by the 19-member investigation team, which included foreign investigators, was air traffic control.

"The air traffic controllers did not initiate the various emergency phases required of them, thereby delaying the activation of the search and rescue operations", he said.

The Malaysian government ended the search in May and on Monday released its final report into the disappearance.

The report also dismissed one conspiracy theory about the plane's disappearance - that it was taken over remotely to foil a hijacking, saying there was no evidence to support this.

Overall the safety investigators found most fault with the air traffic controllers, first in Kuala Lumpur and then Ho Chi Minh City, who were meant to be watching the plane but who had not followed protocol, meaning the plane was off radar for about 20 minutes before anyone was alerted.

The majority of passengers on board were Chinese.
