Before the Philadelphia 76ers and their fans know it, the Kawhi Leonard situation will finally be figured out, as it seems like only a matter of time before the star forward is no longer a member of the San Antonio Spurs.
Less than 24 hours later, National Basketball Association reporter Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com said LeBron informed the Cavaliers he will not exercise his $35.6 million option, becoming an unrestricted free agent. While Leonard wants to be traded to the Lakers, early talks between the franchise and the Spurs have not got off to a promising start.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, the "last straw" for Leonard was the comments Parker made in March about the two-time All-Star's quad injury. However, it appears as though the Lakers and San Antonio Spurs might be out to spite us.
"I would think the Sixers have the best package to offer, because they have numerous draft picks and young players", said Jon Johnson, KYW's Sixers' beat man and one of the foremost local authorities on the Sixers. Oklahoma City's Paul George, another major free agent-get, has already declared himself to be on the open market. The Lakers hoped to lure James and George in free agency, which would give them more leverage in Leonard trade talks - or simply for the ability to wait until next year to sign Leonard.

Apple and Samsung finally settle seven year US patent dispute
In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court threw out the US$399m decision and ordered the case to virtually restart in San Jose. In an unexpected move, Apple and Samsung have agreed to settle their seven-year-old patent infringement lawsuit.
Also, depending on what moves the Lakers make, it's very possible that Brook Lopez (UFA), Julius Randle (RFA) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (UFA) will also be gone. Because of this, many free agents will be forced to sign for less than they anticipated.
As for the discussions held Wednesday, Los Angeles Times' Tania Ganguli said a source described the call as "productive".
The Lakers may do massive things in free agency in the next week or two. The Celtics were only one win away from making the NBA Finals as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. That incentives the Lakers even further - in a way that doesn't apply to Philadelphia - to trade for him.
As it turns out, the Lakers might not be alone.
