Gusty northern winds of up to 45 miles per hour are expected in the Santa Monica mountain region, Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Barbara south coast and San Fernando Valley on Saturday.
Santa Barbara County Fire Chief Eric Peterson thanked residents for self evacuating and following evacuation orders on Friday night, saying he believes there would have been fire-related fatalities if they had not done so.
"It was a small fire but it had a powerful punch to it", Santa County Fire spokesman Mike Eliason said.
California Gov. Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency, citing "extreme peril" to people and property. The wind-whipped brush fire is 5 percent contained.
The Holiday fire in Goleta, California, north of Santa Barbara, grew rapidly overnight and is now at a size of 100 acres.
The Klamathon, which has destroyed 72 structures and blackened almost 30,500 acres (12,340 hectares), was 25 percent contained as of Sunday morning, according to Cal Fire. The blaze was 48% contained by Saturday morning, but had already burned 10 structures, according to Cal Fire.
Authorities say thunderstorms moving through the area Saturday generated a potential for gusty and erratic winds that can reach up to 25 miles per hour.

On Friday, the remains of an unidentified person were found near a home burned to the ground by the Klamathon Fire, which broke out on Thursday near California's border with Oregon.
"Temperatures at 8 a.m. were ridiculously over 100 degrees" in foothills near Forest Falls and many inland valleys, the National Weather Service said. The majority of the fire was burning in California, but part of the fire burned in timber-heavy, steep-sloped areas of Oregon.
