Leaders of the G7 nations spent Friday hunting for a face saving formula to mask the deep rift inflicted on the Western alliance by U.S. president Donald Trump's assault on global trade rules.
Trump said on Friday that Russian Federation should have attended a Group of Seven summit in Canada over the weekend, an idea that even Moscow seemed to reject saying it was focused on other formats.
Russian Federation was suspended from group in 2014 because of its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. The group, which welcomed new members India and Pakistan, as well as the presidents of Iran and Mongolia, pledged to increase cooperation on energy and agriculture and create more favourable conditions on trade and investment. Trump has said he was open to having a summit with Putin, who U.S. intelligence officials have said directed Russian meddling in the 2016 election to help Trump win. If Hillary got in, I think Putin is probably going, 'Man I wish Hillary won, ' because you see what I do.
Following a day after Trump's press conference, Vladmir Putin in the Qingdao SCO summit on Sunday said that such talks were welcome and "much needed" in the wake of the new arms race among countries. "Let us be serious and worthy of our people", Macron's office said in a statement obtained by Le Monde. The latter now includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, Italy, France and Germany. As soon as the agreements are upheld, we will open the game. The annexation of Crimea, alleged USA election interference, the war in Syria and a poisoned spy in Britain are just a few of the storms surrounding the Kremlin before Putin officially declares the tournament open June 14.
Trump arrived at the Group of Seven summit in Quebec on Friday amid tensions with his counterparts over tariffs the United States recently slapped on Canada, Mexico and the European Union, citing national security risks.
"Look, all of these countries have been taking advantage of the United States on trade", Trump told reporters as he left the White House, repeating his longstanding complaints about trade deficits and tariffs. "Today, friendly Russian Federation successfully resolves issues of improving public administration, sustainable development and modernization of the economy, improving welfare of the people", President Aliyev said in his message.

Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov said in late May that no preparations were underway for a meeting that could take place before the G20 summit in November.
Trump said he "may leave a little bit early" from the G-7 meeting.
Trade, investment and development cooperation issues will also feature prominently at the SCO, Murphy said, given the climate of "rising anti-globalisation", stoked by Trump's nationalist "America First" policy.
"I agree with him", he said.
"I would say that the G8 is a more meaningful group than the G7, absolutely", Trump said.
