The former New York City mayor is embracing his client's preferred approach to challenges as he mounts Trump's defense through the media. But it's proving to be a bewildering display.

Giuliani couldn't guarantee that Trump wouldn't end up asserting his constitutional right to refuse to answer any questions that might incriminate him.
"How can I ever be confident of that?"
In an unique interview on "This Week", Stephanopoulos requested Giuliani if Trump knew in regards to the cost to Daniels after the marketing campaign.
Mr Giuliani also suggested that the president wouldn't necessarily comply with a subpoena from Mueller, whose investigation has been repeatedly labeled a "witch hunt" by the president.

In April, Trump told reporters he had no knowledge of the payment Cohen made to Daniels in October 2016.
"When all the facts and evidence come out, there's going to be evidence of payments to other women", Michael Avenatti said Sunday in an interview "State of the Union".
But Giuliani revealed last week that Trump had reimbursed Cohen for that payment and other unspecified items.
Speaking to ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Sunday's episode of "This Week", Giuliani said that his client, Donald Trump, doesn't have to comply with a subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller, in addition to saying he could not be confident that the president would not take the Fifth Amendment if he has to testify in the Russian Federation investigation. "That is no under oath, only a Q&A; we get the questions in advance, and they write the report two weeks before", Giuliani told ABC. He has called Ms Daniels' allegations of an affair "false and extortionist". Conway said Trump meant to say he did not know about the payment at the time it was made. "The reality is those are not facts that worry me as a lawyer".
"In accordance with Rudy Giuliani, this [type of payment] was principally commonplace", Avenatti stated.
