6 p.m. - The Great Scot Parade returns to downtown Greenville to kick off the annual Scottish Games.

The American Legion will host their Memorial Day service Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m.at the flagpole outside their building at 5970 Route 7. The event is free and open for all to attend. Military personnel will stand at attention in one-hour shifts throughout 24-hour period.

8 a.m. - Memorial Day Mass directly followed by a military service (at approximately 9 a.m.) at the edge of the park hosted by Sigel American Legion Post 1134.

Mountain American Legion Post 781, Memorial Day ceremonies will be held on May 27.

Following the service uptown that will include the Hillsboro High School Marching Band and other patriotic music, the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will visit St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery and the Hillsboro Cemetery to lay a wreath a fire a salute, but VFW Commander Rick Wilkin said there will no procession to those locations.

Maplewood: 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1800 Edgerton St. Sponsor: Centerville Civic Association. The requirement for this honor is that you must be an Oelwein High School graduate and still be eligible to wear the military uniform of our country. The parade moves down Main Street to Veterans Memorial Park for a service.

Elaine May-Spem, a retired sergeant major with the U.S. Pleasant High School Band will perform.

Memorial Day Services will be held a the Union Church and Cemetery, 6781 30th Street, rural Aurora, Monday, May 28, 2018. No charge for veterans.

Additionally, visitors will be able to stop by booths set up by veteran-oriented organizations, on display starting at 9 a.m.

The program features the Altamont Community Choir, Coles County Barbershop Choir, Mattoon JROTC Color Guard, Marylynne and Gratton Toliver, Robby Sams, Bruce Banister, Janet Poe, Larry Wilson, Judy Burrow and Matt Burrow. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and goes from Fourth and Washington streets to Lake View Cemetery. Sponsored by Falmouth Veterans' Council and Falmouth Department of Veterans' Services. Music by the Lakewood Salvation Army Band, floral tributes.

The guest speaker will be retired Marine Sgt. Maj. Opening and closing prayers will be offered by Pastor Ron Mains of Forestview Church of God.

Many Americans use Memorial Day as a celebration of the unofficial start of the summer season. Every service is open to the public.

Grave Decoration, 8 a.m. - The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wichita asks for volunteers to help decorate graves with small American flags at Highland and Maple Grove cemeteries.

Memorial Day will be a day of solitude at the Veterans Plaza.

The Orleans Police and Fire Honor Guards, American Legion Post 308 and Brewster VFW will take part, and the public is invited to walk with the group. The service will begin at 1 p.m.at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert, 143 Church St.

Services will be held at 9 a.m.

Buses will follow a holiday schedule with reduced service Monday.
