New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is reportedly up in the air about playing the 2018 season.

The only issue is how do you extend a quarterback, who is now 40, for two years down the line?

ESPN's Adam Schefter says sources told him Brady's 2018 return isn't a done deal, however, those who know the five-time Super Bowl champion the best claim he'll be back to play another season.

"I believe he's going to be there", another source told ESPN.

Speaking on Wednesday's edition of NFL Up to the Minute, Ian Rapoport said Brady would like a new contract before the start of the season. "However, having said that, we're dealing with a human being".

Barbara Bush in "failing health"

Tom Brady has taken less money for years, but maybe his attitude has changed. But he is going to turn 41 years old, he did end the 2017 on a sour note and he did end his documentary in a fashion that might lead people to believe he won't play forever. "Time", in addition to the face that he won't be attending the Patriots' offseason workout program, is a crock of nonsense.

So New England find themselves in a spot where they now have one of the league's best-ever quarterbacks under contract for next season, but also the required capital needed to draft an elite quarterback that could replace Tom Brady.

The answer apparently as easy as it seemed after the Patriots lost in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.

There is a belief that reports of Brady wavering about whether to play next season are a contractual ploy. This comes as other Patriots rumors suggest Rob Gronkowski could retire amid ongoing tensions with head coach Bill Belichick.
