Several people in Germany were left injured after police used pepper spray against some demonstrators opposed to Turkey's ongoing military operation Olive Branch against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria's Afrin region. The YPG has been an important ally for the United States in the fight against Islamic State.
"Turkey will fight terrorists anywhere they operate", Erdogan said, once again promising new military operations in Syria, including in the areas held by the US-backed Kurdish-led militias. More than one million people are now in Afrin city and villages around it after fleeing the fighting, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor group.
Erdogan said that Turkey shares a 911-kilometer (566-mile) border with Syria, adding that it has been harassed by both terrorist groups and the Syrian regime.
In the same speech on Saturday, Erdogan reportedly criticized North Atlantic Treaty Organisation for not supporting his country's ongoing military operation against Syrian Kurdish fighters in Syria.
In a statement to the UN Security Council, the Kurdish council that governs Afrin on Sunday demanded a response to the Turkish offensive.

He was set to have an $8.5 million cap hit in 2018, and the Giants will save $6.5 million on their salary cap by releasing him. Rodgers-Cromartie has 30 career interceptions but had none in 2017 after matching his career high with six in 2016.
Packers move up in 4th and 5th round via DeShone Kizer deal

850 sq km now under control in Afrin: Erdogan
Rami Abel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Observatory, said the aim was to besiege Afrin, cutting it off from other areas. Erdogan noted that a total of 815 square kilometres (506 square miles) have been cleared from the terrorists so far.
North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members not only show no support towards Turkey's Operation Olive Branch and would even openly oppose Ankara's actions in Syria, but did not have the guts to do so, Erdogan claimed.
Erdogan questioned why North Atlantic Treaty Organisation had not come to Turkey's aid in its Syria operation when Ankara had backed critical alliance campaigns worldwide.
"With these things happening in Syria, when will you, NATO, take our side?" he said. Is this friendship? Is this North Atlantic Treaty Organisation unity? NATO, Turkey is not a NATO country?
