Bush said Thursday he thinks there's "pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the 2016 USA presidential election.
Speaking in Abu Dhabi at a forum organized by the Milken Institute, a California-based think tank, Bush didn't say whether he thought the meddling affected election results, according to The Associated Press.
"But they meddled and that is risky for democracy", he said, adding that Russian Federation had done the same thing during the Cold War and was adept at trying to manipulate opinion in the United States and Europe.
"It's problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system".
Trump has repeatedly denied collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation and dismissed the conclusions of U.S. intelligence officials that the Kremlin had interfered in the presidential election.
"He's got a chip on his shoulder", Bush said of Putin.
