Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has just released an extensive transcript from Senate Judiciary Committee's interview with Glenn Simpson - one of the co-founders of Fusion GPS.

When published by BuzzFeed News in January 2016, the 35-page intelligence dossier made several explosive but uncorroborated allegations that the Russian government held compromising information, or "kompromat" material, on then-Republican presidential candidate Trump.

The Democrat lawmakers echoed this position, branding the call for a criminal investigation as a crass "miscalculation" on the part of the GOP committee members.

Feinstein said she released the transcript to set the record straight.

Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson, who previously worked as a reporter at the Wall Street Journal, had asked that a transcript of his 10 hours of testimony in August before Judiciary Committee staff be made public, Feinstein said.

Simpson told the committee in closed-door testimony made public on Tuesday that no one had encouraged him and he did not seek anyone's approval when ex-British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, went to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in July 2016. Steele's reports were eventually compiled into a dossier alleging the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin - a claim the president has repeatedly denied.

Frank Beamer to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
He will be officially inducted on December 4, 2018, at the annual NFF awards dinner at the Hilton Midtown Hotel in New York City. Heisman Trophy victor Charles Woodson of MI has been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Ms. Feinstein moved to do so without the committee's Republican chairman, Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, nearly certainly escalating partisan tensions on the committee. "Her action undermines the integrity of the committee's oversight work and jeopardizes its ability to secure candid voluntary testimony relating to the independent recollections of future witnesses". "So, you know, that tells you something about somebody", Simpson said during the testimony, regarding Trump's relationship with Sater. He has also talked to the House and Senate intelligence committees.

The release of the transcript, Feinstein said, was supported by committee Democrats. On Jan. 2, Simpson and fellow Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch called on congressional investigators to release their testimony.

Feinstein said Americans deserve to see what Simpson said. "Feinstein for her courage".

The demand comes one week after Grassley and Sen.

When asked who that source may have been an answer was declined on the basis of "security", with Mr Simpson adding that "people who get in the way of the Russians tend to get hurt". Democrats say such attacks are an effort to discredit the ongoing probe by special counsel Robert Mueller into whether any Trump associates coordinated with Russian agents to interfere in the presidential election.

Earlier this month two senior Republican senators referred Mr Steele, over statements about the "distribution of claims contained in the dossier", to the US Department of Justice (DoJ) - urging them to investigate him.
