Green Bay hired Joe Philbin as offensive coordinator and Mike Pettine as defensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday.
Nine years later, he has the same thing in Mike Pettine. Pettine then moved on to serve as defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills in 2013. Additionally, Pettine was a coaching assistant with the Baltimore Ravens (2002-2003), as well as Baltimore's assistant defensive line coach (2004) and outside linebackers coach (2005-2008). The Browns fired Pettine after a poor 2015, finishing with a 10-22 record.
His units were ranked in the top 10 in total defenses in the National Football League every one of those seasons, earning him a two-year stint as head coach of the Browns.
The Packers' successor to defensive coordinator Dom Capers will be Pettine, a former Cleveland Browns head coach.

Giants expected to hire Pat Shurmur as next head coach, report says
There could be a familiar face patrolling the opposite sideline when the Philadelphia Eagles face the New York Giants next season. But he made the most of his opportunity in Minnesota and now he's one game away from getting the Vikings to the Super Bowl.
Airbus wins 2017 order race after last-minute sales spree
Airbus has said it will have no other choice but to halt the costly A380 programme if Emirates does not place another order. Airbus announced earlier Monday that it had delivered 718 commercial aircraft, to 85 different customers, in 2017.
Pettine's scheme, like Ryan's, is rooted in a 3-4 system that relies heavily on press man cornerbacks and myriad blitzes. He hired Joe Philbin, the former Miami Dolphins coach, to rejoin his staff likely as offensive coordinator to replace Edgar Bennett, who will not return.
Green Bay's defense has basically become a laughingstock over the last few seasons as team seem to be able to throw deep on them nearly at will in the third and fourth quarters of games. Capers had not finished with a top-10 defense since the Packers' Super Bowl season of 2010, when it ranked fifth.
His one year in Buffalo was another top 10 finish.
