Immediately after the travel ban affecting Tunisian women, Tunisia's foreign ministry summoned the UAE Ambassador to seek clarifications amid growing outcry and denunciation of a discriminatory decision.
"We have met with the brothers in Tunisia for security information as they have imposed specific and circumstantial measures".
Meanwhile, according to Al Ain news, Tunisian presidency spokesperson Saeeda Qureshi said, "The measures that the UAE took regarding travel of Tunisian women, are considered part of their sovereignty procedures, and not a sign of a trust crisis between the two countries".
A number of Tunisian women had said their travel to the Gulf state on UAE airlines had been delayed and some had been forced to undergo an additional examination of their visas.
The country's transport ministry announced it has suspended Emirates flights to Tunis until the airline finds the appropriate solution to operate flights "in accordance with worldwide law and agreements", reported the Guardian.

Tunisia has suspended all Emirates Airlines flights to and from the North African country. "We highly value Tunisian women and respect them", Gargash said, without elaborating.
Tunisia's transport ministry said the ban would remain in force until an "appropriate solution" had been found.
The relationship between the Tunisia and UAE was damaged by former's 2011 revolution.
