Police have revealed the identity of an officer shot and killed while serving a warrant in Central Texas.
San Marcos Police Chief Chase Stapp says Officer Kenneth Copeland along with a "small contingent of officers" went to 177 Valero Dr.at 2:23 p.m.to serve a warrant.
Stapp said it's still unclear if the suspect was shot during the SWAT standoff by an officer or if it was a self-inflicted.
A Central Texas police officer was shot multiple times and killed in an "ambush-style" attack on Monday while he was serving a warrant on a suspect.
For people who live in the El Camino Real subdivision in San Marcos, Monday afternoon was met with a slew of of sirens and crime scene tape.
The suspect was taken to an Austin hospital for treatment and will be released into police custody when he is medically stable. The officer was reported to be with other officers while serving the warrant.

The body of Officer Kenneth Copeland is back in San Marcos after being transported from the medical examiner's officer in Austin. "We talked to them a couple times, and completely normal", said neighbor Stephanie McGlothlin.
"Ken's a hero", Stapp told reporters.
"Today was his day off. His picture is hanging in different parts of this police department because everyone here loved him", according to ABC affiliate KUVE. "They are a part of our family as well and they did a great job".
The fallen officer had been working on his day off, Strapp said. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
Abbott added, "Cecilia and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the officer's family and to the entire San Marcos Police Department". "The men and women in law enforcement put their lives on the line every day to protect and to serve our communities, and we will never forget their sacrifices", said Governor Greg Abbott in a statement.
